Hi, I'm Winkey Cheng, a Biomedical Engineering student at City University of Hong Kong with a minor in Neuroscience. I'm passionate about understanding the brain's most fundamental mysteries: how memories form, how neural circuits drive learning and behavior, and what goes wrong in neurodegenerative diseases. My research interests focus on memory formation and the role of synaptic plasticity in neuronal activity, neurodegenerative diseases including alpha-synuclein's implications in regenerative processes, and cognition & learning through both biological and artificial neural network (ANN) approaches. I'm particularly fascinated by the nucleus accumbens as a reward processing hub and how dopaminergic signaling influences circadian rhythms and behavioral outcomes. Currently, I'm gaining hands-on experience as a Medical Assistant at Hope Biochemistry Technology Co. Limited, where I'm developing practical skills in biomedical procedures and healthcare environments. I'm actively seeking research assistant positions in Hong Kong and welcome opportunities to collaborate with researchers in biomedicine and neuroscience. Whether you're looking for a dedicated research helper or simply want to discuss shared interests in brain science, feel free to reach out via email or connect with me on social media!
